Sol. A force F = 2 π r α is exerted by the walls of the capillary on the liquid. According to Newton's third law, a force of the same magnitude but in the opposite direction will be exerted by the liquid on the capillary. The loss of weight in the case of the wetting agent will be less than the loss calculated by Archimedes law and larger in case of a non-wetting agent.

It cannot. While calculating the loss in weight, a correction should be introduced for the action of surface tension.
